There must be something alluring about the Vaer C3/S3 Tradition, as despite only featuring it in a single post to date (only as an honorable mention due to lack of time with the watch), our back-end analytics show it’s one of the most-purchased by viewers.
The Vaer C3 Tradition that I showcased had some notable positives, including a super-slim case and an American-made quartz movement. Case finishing was sleek, as was the faux patina lume, that added to the vintage vibes. While the bracelet was great, I’d recommend the basic silicone straps, which are extremely comfortable and come with a secret bulge hidden in the keeper, to secure it in place.
Since my review, Vaer has revised their product stack, with the most similar model to the C3 now being the ‘S3 Tradition’, which is instead made in China and powered by a Miyota movement. Luckily, the S3 has seen a significant price reduction in accordance with this. It’s a similar story for the larger model, which now lives on as the ‘S5’; though there are dozens of other comparable field watches on their site, with slightly different designs and features.
This is one of the few watches I’ve seen come with a ‘waterproof warranty’, so if that’s of concern to you, Vaer may be the company to shop with. If you’re looking for even more of a bargain, Vaer also offers preowned watches at heavy discounts.
