The SRPH30 series is effectively Seiko’s replacement for the legendary, outgoing SNK800 line of field/pilot hybrid watches. As part of the new Seiko 5 line, these SRPH30 series watches have more complex case finishing, enhanced water resistance, vivid colors, upgraded movements, and elaborate domed Hardlex crystals, not to mention slightly improved lume.
Perhaps the largest improvement is the strap, which blows away those on previous-gen Seiko models. This significant makeover does come at a cost…quite literally. Like with other new Seiko 5 implementations, the SRPH30 series retails for around double the models it replaced, though, on this occasion, I think it’s well worth the extra cash. Sapphire would have been nice though!
