I’ve never been much of a dive watch fan. Most of them are too big for my preferences, and a large number just rip off famous designs from Rolex or Blancpain. Therefore, I was surprised to discover a dive watch I enjoyed when I reviewed the 38mm Maen Hudson in March 2021.
The overall fit and finish rivalled $1000 timepieces, yet this Hudson was half the price. The design was unique and tastefully executed, the bracelet was excellent, and the smaller sizing felt like my skinny-wristed prayers had finally been answered.
When reviewing, the watch was fitted with the popular STP1-11 automatic movement, though subsequent revisions indicate that the piece now comes with a Ronda R-150 instead. This is a slimmer movement, meaning the watch's thickness is even further reduced; making this a very sleek diver indeed. I look forward to future releases from this relatively young microbrand.
