A subsidiary of Seiko, Lorus is a little-known and often overlooked brand that has some surprisingly good offerings. I was blown away by the RXD425L8 field watch, which I reviewed in early 2020, Lorus has since revised this watch, under the new codename RG877CX9, though it’s near-identical.
This watch caught my eye due to its great specifications, interesting aesthetics, and low price point. It’s got a compact, titanium case and 100m of water resistance; making it a handsome and functional field watch for my tiny wrist. While the stock strap was nothing to write home about, the watch is tremendously comfortable and still sees consistent wrist time. There’s now a green dial option available too.
Do you need any more from a field watch? I don’t think so.
